Title of Presentation: Technology Training Development: Articulating A University-Wide Perspective

Format: Panel Discussion

Suggested Audience: computing center managers, higher education administrators, trainers

Presentation Outcome:

1. look at training development in terms of a RANGE of needs

2. Identify interorganizational alliances which might help build larger training programs.

3. Envision communication tools, e.g., web resources, which can help build awareness of training programs campuswide.

Presentation Content:

We propose a panel presentation from perhaps 6 Northwestern staff, titled "Training Development: Articulating A University-Wide Perspective." Because NU has worked quite a bit at trying to reach multiple audiences for computing training, I thought it would be valuable to share our experiences of our approach, methodologies, and evaluation.

The objective of the presentation is to indicate the value of training development when planned from a VARIETY of perspectives. Thus we envision a number of contributors for the panel, from a number of NU organizations. The structure for the panel might be as such:

  1. Introduction and Overview
  2. Training for New Students -- Program description
  3. Training and the larger technological infrastructure
  4. Faculty Training
  5. Involving the University Library
  6. Systemwide communication on Training: A Web Approach
