Interesting area links:
Nested among the rolling hills of southern Indiana, Bloomington is one of Indiana's most popular travel destinations. And there's no better time to visit than October, when she truly earns her title of "Tree City USA" by drenching the hillsides with brilliant fall colors.
Paradoxically, Bloomington exudes the warmth and charm of a small town as well as the cosmopolitan flavor of a major metropolitan city. Her eclectic nature is reflected in the tremendous diversity of entertainment opportunities: Broadway plays, a world-class opera program, numerous museums and galleries, and an impressive array of ethnic restaurants, unusual shops, and live music clubs.
Monroe County -- home to Bloomington, Indiana University, three lakes, two forests, twenty parks, and a multitude of playing fields, pools, diamonds, rinks, and golf courses -- is a recreational mecca.
Some IU links:
The Bloomington campus of Indiana University, often called the "woodland campus," is considered one of the most beautiful in the United States. Its careful blend of traditional and modern architecture, much of it fashioned from locally quarried limestone, adds grace and charm to this scenic campus. Founded in 1820, Indiana University is one of the oldest public universities in the country.
Bloomington's October weather is the best of the year, with an average high of 68F, an average low of 40F, and minimal precipitation. So dress in layers, bring a raincoat and umbrella (just in case), and hope for brisk, sunshiny days to complement the exquisite scenery.
