Judging Criteria for ALL Categories
- First Impression: Is the publication inviting and motivating? Is
its purpose clear? Is the material accessible for its target audience?
Do Web pages display effectively in a range of browsers?
- Cohesive/consistent design
- Objectives stated on entry form are met regarding purpose, target
audience, etc.)
- Logical organization
- Easy navigation
- Effective use of language
- Effective use of graphics, animation and overall visual appearance
- Effective page/screen layout and use of space
Judging Criteria for Specific Categories
The following criteria are to be applied *IN ADDITION TO* the general
categories listed above.
Category 1: Computing Services (Web
only)
- Ease in finding both general and specific information
- Appropriateness and accuracy of information
- Accessability (both in speed and across platforms and browsers)
- Ease of navigation
Category 2: Computing Center Newsletter

- Eye-catching
- Quality of content
- Appeal to reader
Category 3: How-To Guides and
Classroom Training Materials (Web or Printed)
- Logical sequence of task flow
- Appropriate blend of conceptual overview and step-by-step instruction
- Effective analogies used to promote conceptual understanding
- Relevant examples chosen to demonstrate tasks
- Appropriateness of the medium chosen
- Effective use of illustrations
- Clarity of instructions
