Information for Paper and Panel Presenters

PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY AS THERE ARE CHANGES FROM PREVIOUS YEARS.

PROGRAM SCHEDULE
The program schedule is posted. Please review the program schedule and confirm your availability to present at the time noted. With one exception, technical paper presentations will share a 1.5 hour time slot with one other presentation. Please keep your presentation to 30 minutes. This format will allow for extended discussion time with your audience following both presentations. Panels will have the full 1.5 hour slot for their presentation and discussion.

COMPUTERS AND AV
For budgetary reasons, COMPUTERS AND CONNECTIVITY WILL NOT BE PROVIDED IN THE PRESENTATION "BREAKOUT" ROOMS. (Note: there will be email available in another location.) Please bring your presentation to the conference on your own laptop. If you plan to use webpages or other screens from Internet resources, please save all necessary files to your browser cache or to your hard drive. We will provide a standard AV package as listed below:

  • LCD Data Projector compatible with Wintel/Windows 95/98/NT and Macintosh
  • A small table to put the computer on will be part of the room setup
  • Projection screen
  • Overhead projector
  • Large pad on easel with markers
  • Microphone (of some kind)
TIPS FOR PRESENTERS
Some tips for presenters are included below and will be posted on the conference website.

SPEAKERS' BREAKFASTS
Monday presenters are invited to a speakers' breakfast on Monday morning and Tuesday and Wednesday presenters are invited to one on Tuesday morning. You will meet your Session Chair and other presenters at this time and your Session Chair will go over final details for the smooth facilitation of your session.

REGISTRATION
You must be registered for the conference in order to present your paper or panel. Please make your arrangements soon. Information is available at www.psu.edu/sig99.

CANCELLATIONS
If you are unable to present your paper or panel at the SIGUCCS Conference, you are responsible for finding someone to do it for you. Please pass these materials along with the conference URL to your substitute presenter and notify Lida Larsen (Program Chair) at lida_larsen@umail.umd.edu or call 301.405.2936.
