We
are looking forward to seeing you in Portland,
Oregon, October 17-20, for SIGUCCS 2001.
Registration
is now closed. We hope you are registered for what promises
to be an informative and exciting conference. The Portland
Marriott Downtown, across the street from Portland's
scenic Willamette River waterfront is the site. Here
you will have the best of all worlds: a park-like setting
on the river, with your choice of restaurants, brewpubs,
stores, and coffee shops close by. Portland, a city
of "books, beer, bikes and blooms", is also know as
"the city of bridges," inspiring us to explore ways
in which we can best bridge the gaps between technology
and the people who use it.
The
program is now available
online as a PDF document. Check it out!
Sheryl
Burgstahler will give the opening keynote, "Bridging
the Gap: Who's Left on the Other Side?" on Thursday.
Faculty Vignettes, showcasing some of the ways faculty
are using technology, will highlight the first session
on Friday. While Elizabeth Murphy presents the closing
keynote, "Delivering Knock Your Socks Off Service,"
on Saturday morning.
The
program also features a number of technical sessions
focussing on support, instructional technology, staffing
issues, up and coming ideas, and a variety of other
topics. Plus a poster session with lots of small presentations
and some tutorials you won't want to miss.
