PROGRAM

PROGRAM DETAILS
With the theme "Fishing for New Ideas", the program is the heart of the SIGUCCS conference, and you are the key to the success of the program! By sharing your ideas, your successes, and even your disastrous failures, you help others learn from your experiences.

Many thanks to those who submitted abstracts! The abstracts are now posted online .

The conference offers pre-conference tutorials [optional], a wide variety of technical presentations, a poster session, two inspiring keynote speakers, and informal "birds of a feather" sessions.

Pre-Conference Tutorials

Pre-conference tutorials are half-day sessions that offer an in-depth focus on management, specific technical skills, or professional development. All pre-conference tutorials are optional, require pre-registration and are not included in the conference registration fee. Before starting the registration process, please review the detailed pre-conference tutorial information to make your selection, as desired.

Keynote Speakers

Two dynamic keynote speakers will appear at the 2005 Fall Conference, Howard Rheingold, author of Smart Mobs: The Next Social Revolution, and Father William Padavick, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oberlin, Ohio. We expect both talks to be relevant, dynamic, perhaps humorous, and filled with some of the "new ideas" we're all fishing for!

Technical Presentations

Each SIGUCCS Fall Conference features two and a half days of technical presentations, the real heart of the conference.
The technical program consists of over 100 paper and poster presentations on topics such as:

  • Customer Service
  • Management of Staff and Student Employees
  • World Wide Web
  • Security and Policy
  • Faculty and Student Technology Education
  • Technology Solutions to Customer Service Problems
  • Documentation and Communicating with your Customers

Abstracts for the paper presentations are available online.

Birds-of-a-Feather Sessions (BOFs)

Following the adage that "Birds of a Feather flock together", Birds-of-a- Feather sessions are informal opportunities for you and your colleagues to meet and discuss topics of common interest. BOF sign-up sheets will be available at the Conference Information area. You can create your own BOF or attend one that interests you. BOFs are held at the end of each day of technical sessions.
