About the SIGUCCS Fall Conference

The ACM Special Interest Group on University and College Computing Services (SIGUCCS) Fall Conference has been held at various locations throughout the United States and Canada for more than thirty years. This conference presents an opportunity for professionals involved in the support of Information Technology (IT) at institutions of higher education to network with peers, learn and share ideas about supporting clients and delivering services, and discuss the future of IT support on campus.

Typical attendees include:

  • User Services Staff
  • Help Desk Staff
  • Instructional Technologists
  • Lab Supervisors & Consultants
  • IT Managers and Directors
  • Media Specialists
  • Technical Staff
  • Technical Writers
  • Trainers
  • Web Developers
  • Librarians

The SIGUCCS Fall Conference is widely known as the premiere event for IT support professionals. It's the one time of the year when we can meet with our IT support colleagues who share our challenges, understand our angst, and can empathize with our tales. It's also an opportunity to gain insights, discover how others have solved similar problems, and perhaps save ourselves from reinventing the proverbial wheel.

The SIGUCCS program revolves around presentations of papers written by attendees, panel discussions, tutorials, poster sessions, and birds-of-a-feather (BOF) sessions. There are also many opportunities built into the conference schedule for networking with peers in more relaxed, informal settings - breaks, lunch, the welcome reception, and an always-entertaining gala event. Events scheduled include:

  • Pre-conference Workshops
  • Opening Reception - attendees are encouraged to wear T-shirts from their college or university
  • Keynote Speakers - Monday and Wednesday
  • Presentations
  • Poster Sessions
  • "Birds of a Feather" Sessions
  • Documentation Display Room and Email Room
  • Hospitality Suite
  • Gala event at the Portland Museum of Art

If you're an IT support professional at a college or university, you should make plans now to attend this conference. This is the one conference you should not miss!
