What's New At This Year's Conference
PresentIT |
Traditionally SIGUCCS has offered two
similar presentations in the same time slot, which often caused problems
for people wanting to switch sessions during the presentation. This
year we are trying something new, each presentation has a 45 minute
slot so you attend only the sessions that you want to attend. |
LeadIT |
Leading and managing IT professionals is challenging,
so we wanted to offer a track of topics that would be helpful to the
new manager or aspiring IT leader. We have collected some experts
to guide you through a facilitated discussion on various management
and leadership topics, come and share your stories! |
DiscussIT |
BOFs or “birds of a feather” sessions
are always popular so we wanted to offer you more opportunities to
network with your colleagues around those topics that interest you.
Several facilitated discussions will be offered in each of the tracks
so that you have additional opportunities to collaborate. |
GRAB-IT |
This year there are no “formal” refreshment
breaks between sessions. Since we are trying out the new format, we
will provide refreshments and you will have 10-15 minutes to grab
something and move to your next room. We are hoping to arrange the
rooms in classroom style seating so you have a table for refreshments
and note taking. |
ExperienceIT |
This year’s theme is Communication & Collaboration,
so we are providing many opportunities to do just that using social
networking (Facebook, Twitter) and additional networking opportunities
at the conference. One of the most useful aspects of the SIGUCCS conference
each year, according to our evaluations, is the opportunity to connect
with your colleagues. Sharing ideas informally is often the most successful
part of the conference! |
ConnectIT |
There is NO EMAIL ROOM this year! We have internet
access in all of the guest rooms and wireless in our meeting rooms
and gathering spaces. According to past evaluation data, most bring
their own computer or PDA. The hotel provides a free business center
for their guests, which includes a place to print boarding passes
or other documents at no charge. We want you to communicate and collaborate
while attending the conference! |
