Session Description

Management Track, Session II
Session topic: Stretching the IT Dollar-A Continuing Challenge
Session presenter: Michael Sherer, Goshen College and
John Lateulere, Otterbein College
Format: Facilitated discussion
Description:
The concept of "doing more with less" is alive and well, especially relative to IT budgets. What are some common strategies for stretching IT dollars--and which really work? How does one determine the stretching points--priorities and cuts? What creative arrangements are available (e.g., outsourcing, ASP, leasing/financing, "recycling/redistributing older equipment" etc.) and which really stretch dollars and which do not? Can charge-back strategies help stretch dollars by encouraging responsible consumption? When does the "stretch" become penny-wise and pound-foolish?
