Session Description

Plenary Session III
Session topic: Infrastructure Is Not The Issue
Session presenter: Carole Barone, Vice President, EDUCAUSE
Format: Plenary Session - Conference Wrap-up
Description:
Information technology support staff are challenged to meet the changing expectations of faculty, staff, students, and administration. For example, faculty expect assistance in revising their pedagogy to use technology to engage students in active learning; staff expect just-in-time training in the use of tools to support their work; students expect 24x7 help desk support; and administration expects increased support services within limited resource boundaries. The infrastructure to support such transformation is largely in place in institutions. However, institutional culture, policy, practice and support methodologies generally lag. Knowing how to gauge the institution's readiness for change provides realistic perspective on one's role and what is possible.
