Carole A. Barone is Vice President of EDUCAUSE, where her responsibilities include a focus on the National Learning Infrastructure Initiative (NLII). Before joining EDUCAUSE in 1998, she was Associate Vice Chancellor for Information Technology at the University of California at Davis where she had served since 1991. Previously, she was Vice President for Information Systems and Computing at Syracuse University. She holds Masters and Ph.D. degrees from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. Barone serves on the Board of the IMS Global Learning Architectures Corporation and is a member of the Advisory Board of the MERLOT Project (to develop a peer reviewed repository of learning objects). Recently she served on the National Policy and Planning Council(NPPAC)of the University Corporation for Advanced Internet Development (UCAID). She has also served on the Boards of CAUSE and EDUCOM. She is the 1995 Recipient of the CAUSE Elite Award for Exemplary Leadership and Information Technology Excellence. Barone has long been active in information technology in higher education at the national level. She speaks and writes extensively on the impact of information technology on organizations. She co-edited, Technology-Enhanced Teaching and Learning: Leading and Supporting the Transformation on Your Campus, published by Jossey Bass in 2001 as Volume 5 in the EDUCAUSE higher education leadership strategies series. | |
