Jim Kerlin is the Director of Education Outreach for the Center for Education Technology Services at The Pennsylvania State University. Education Outreach focuses on enhancing the academic experiences of all faculty and students through the use of technology and technology related services. Jim is a retired Air Force Colonel, having served in a variety of science and computer research and management capacities including Air Force Senior Scientist to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and Director of Information Technology for the Military Airlift Command. His military decorations and awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star and Meritorious Service Medal . Upon his retirement from the Air Force in 1987 he received a note of appreciation and best wishes from President Regan and was presented with a flag that was flow over the Capital Building in Washington DC in honor of this service to the country. He serves on a number of National Science Foundation undergraduate education panels as member and panel chair. He is on the Board of Directors and Treasurer of the National Educational Computing Association, having served with the Association for over fourteen years. He has consulted for and taught workshops in the People's Republic of China for the United Nations. And has taught a variety of computer and other scientific and management disciplines at both the graduate and undergraduate levels at the University of Alaska, Webster University, Belleville College, and The Pennsylvania State University. He has lived in Japan, Vietnam, Hawaii, Alaska, and has spent time in the Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan, South Korea, the People's Republic of China, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Guam, Canada, Scotland, Ireland, Whales, Northern Ireland, and Ireland.
