| Russell Helm has been the University Director of Information Services at Central Missouri State University, a comprehensive, four-year public university since 1996. Prior to his position with CMSU, Russell was the director of technology services for several universities and systems of higher education. In 1997, CMSU became Missouri's institution designated with a statewide mission in professional technology. This designation has provided Russell with growing challenges for meeting the technological demands and requirements of users who are expected to carry the banner of "after all you are the state's professional technology institution" at a time when support services are often identified as a "demand in crisis". He consistently faces the challenge of doing this with a limited budget and growing demands. A key component of this challenge is maintaining current and adequate systems on the user desktops. | |
