Speaker BioTrent Batson is Chair of the Board of the Open Source Portfolio Initiative. He is also Director of Information and Instructional Technology Services at the University of Rhode Island and is on the graduate faculty as well. Dr. Batson received an EDUCOM (now EDUCAUSE) award and Smithsonian recognition for groundbreaking work in the mid-80s using an academic chat tool to teach writing. He has remained a national leader in teaching, learning, and technology since that time. His research area is the rhetoric of electronic text -- how is email and electronic communication altering the way we think of the structure of knowledge? He has published and spoken widely and knows airports much too well. |
