Presenters:
        Kenneth Janz, Indiana State University
        Susan Owen, Indiana State University,

Instructional and Research Technology Services (IRTS) is a unit within the Office of Information Technology at Indiana State University (ISU). Improving research support for faculty and students is a high priority for IRTS. Some of the services IRTS provides are support for:

  • High Performance Computing (HPC),
  • academic programming services for the University,
  • consultation and support services for leveraging Internet 2 resources in research and teaching activities,
  • statistical and research design consultation services,
  • managing faculty IT mini-grant programs,
  • administrating selected institutional IT grants,
  • identifying and disseminating information about new funding sources for technology intensive research projects and programs, and
  • writing or editing IT components and related evaluation sections of grant proposals.

In addition, it is IRTS's role to increase campus dialog in regards to research and our role in its support. Through identifying and implementing best practices for research support and assessment IRTS has started to gain recognition for its work within the campus community. This presentation will focus on how ISU is leveraging current IT assets and resources to provide effective support for academic research.
