Transforming Information Technology: Meet the Speaker

Plenary Speaker: Robert Lewis, President and Founder of IT Catalysts

An opportunity to meet and discuss with Bob Lewis after his plenary presentation. Bob suggests that the discipline of information technology rests on four core assumptions:

  1. IT's responsibility is the management and delivery of information.
  2. IT's relationship with the business is that of a supplier, whose mission is to satisfy (or exceed the expectations, or "delight") its internal customers.
  3. IT's goal is to deliver and operate working software that meets the requirements of the business.
  4. IT's success is determined by whether it meets or outperforms service level agreements (SLAs) negotiated with the rest of the business.

All four of these core assumptions are, at best, flawed. This presentation shows why this is so, and suggests alternatives that will help working CIOs transform their organizations using a more effective model.
