Keynote Speaker: Wendell Barbour

Wendell Barbour is the University Librarian at Longwood University, Farmville, Virginia. He is an experienced practitioner of incorporating information literacy into university programs. He served as Vice President for Information Resources and Chief Information Officer at California State University, Bakersfield from 1996-2004. He had responsibility for the library, as well as the usual computing, web, telecommunications and distance education services. Before going to California, he served as Dean of Academic Support at Christopher Newport University (CNU) in Newport News, VA from 1983-1996. During his tenure at CNU, he had responsibility for the library, computing, registrar, admissions, financial aid, international studies, and online degree departments. He also served as lobbyist to the Virginia General Assembly, and co-chaired CNU's decennial self-study for reaccreditation by SACS.

He has co-authored an ECAR Research Bulletin on Integrating Information Literacy into the Academic Curriculum. This is the theme for his keynote presentation.
