Keynote Speaker: Dewitt Latimer
Dewitt Latimer is Deputy CIO (Assistant Provost/Assistant VP) and Chief Technology Officer at the University of Notre Dame. In this capacity, he has operational oversight of the IT infrastructure and serves as the University's chief IT strategist. Dr. Latimer has been a leader in higher education's national networking efforts and has played a key role in shaping higher education's position on national information technology policy issues. He serves on numerous national and EDUCAUSE committees, has served as a member of the SAC Board of Directors and past program chair, past fellow for the Educause Center for Applied Research (ECAR), and past co-Chair of the EDUCAUSE Net@EDU Wireless Working Group. In his professional career than spans two decades, Dr. Latimer was previously Executive Director of Statewide IT Infrastructure for The University of Tennessee, Director of Academic Computing and Technology at Kent State University and Director of Information Technology, Clemson University College of Engineering and Sciences. Latimer received a BS and MS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University and a Ph.D. in Education (with a concentration in Higher Education Administration) from The University of Tennessee. The University of Notre Dame also was named to the 2005 CIO 100 Award list and was recognized for innovation in the article A VOIP Implementation, CIO Magazine, June 1, 2005.
