Creating an Accessible Technology-Enhanced Learning EnvironmentPresenter: Terry Thompson, University of Washington Can all students and employees access the information technology at your institution? In higher education, federal law requires that programs and services be accessible to all qualified participants, including individuals with disabilities. Historically, the need for accessibility was met by the Disability Services office. However, as information technology plays an increasingly prevalent role in delivering educational programs and services, information technology groups play a growing role in assuring that technology resources are accessible. Participants in this session will explore institutional strategies for assuring that all students and employees, including those with disabilities, are able to fully access their needed web sites, software applications, video materials, computer labs, technology-enhanced classrooms, and distance learning materials.
