Staying Connected on the Go

In our fast-paced, competitive, mobile society, educators and administrators must be able to communicate and access information on the go. Lehigh University has developed a program that utilizes the multifunctional capabilities of the Treo smart phone to keep our faculty, staff, and students connected.

This initiative helps faculty members be more productive and responsive to students and colleagues as they check email, consult their calendar and task lists, review papers, listen to voice messages, return calls, and even work on grades anytime and any place. Other Treo users, such as coaches and advancement officers, are better prepared to meet with recruits and prospects when they have detailed background information and pictures at their fingertips.

This discussion will cover our rationale for selecting the Treo, recommended applications, training and support, security guidelines, and our speculations and plans for the future as each year brings advancements in mobile computing. We will also share some of our clients’ innovative PDA uses.
