Negotiating a Fair Contract for Software and Services

This session will compare language from a vendor supplied ERP contract for software purchase and implementation services with the language in the final contract after the college lawyers had input. The changes apply not just to what might be found in an ERP contract but point out the areas a CIO should look at in evaluating any large contract for services. In a large institution the CIO might never have to be involved; but in the small to medium sized schools involvement with the school counsel may be expected. This session is not legal advice but a look at kinds of changes negotiations can achieve.
The session attendees will be solicited for their ideas on other ways the contract language could have been changed to benefit the college. In this way discussion will be integral with the presentation.
