Session: Strategic Planning, Collaborations and Enriching Services

Speaker: Hetty Baiz, Princeton University

Title: Project Management: A Critical Skill for IT Organizations

In 1997 Princeton University implemented a project office and a project management methodology to help enable the successful implementation of IT projects. Starting with just a few large projects, this approach is now being used to manage a wide range of initiatives across all of our IT departments. Other universities have adopted the Princeton model as well. This presentation will give an overview of the project management methodology, principles and best practices that have used successfully at Princeton for over 10 years. Learn how this simple, straightforward, approach can be adapted to manage both simple and complex initiatives. Participants will walk away from the session with three easy to use templates that they can start using right away to manage projects in their own departments.
