View full Program Schedule
Session: Leadership, Management, and Professional Development Strategies
Speaker: Jeff Overholtzer, Washington and Lee University
Title: Can you hear me now? Communication as IT strategy
Communicating IT plans and intentions is sometimes an afterthought for IT organizations, yet it's a key to success in delivering services that meet client expectations. Good communication requires a comprehensive strategy including old-fashioned, face-to-face communication as well as creative use of committees, liaisons, governance structures and traditional and new media. Some IT organizations can devote resources to communication in the form of dedicated staff, but other means are available to increase the effectiveness of communication in the organization. This session will provide information for IT managers on how to: - effectively employ communication in project management - use templates and plans to ensure more effective day-to-day communication of IT changes and initiatives - allocate more resources to communication, even with tight budgets - gather input from clients in a way that effectively guides IT planning and execution.
