Speaker: Nav Bassi, University of Victoria

Title: University Systems PMO: The Evolution of Portfolio Management

The University Systems Project Management Office (PMO) was created in 2006 and is responsible for managing the entire portfolio of projects for University Systems at the University of Victoria. The first half of this session provides a description of how the Project Management Office manages a portfolio of projects within the framework of a governance process. It includes an overview of the PMO, how it is structured, what services it provides, and what functions it performs. It also includes description of our project management methodology, from initiation to closure, and its key governance components. The second half of this session describes the latest challenges for the PMO, including resource planning, project prioritization, and its lonely existence within the University as a whole.
