Grants for Participation in the Annual SIGUCCS Conferences and Symposia The purpose of the SIGUCCS Grant program is to provide partial support for students and employees in institutions of higher education to participate in the annual SIGUCCS Fall Conferences and Spring Management Symposia. This support is funded by SIGUCCS and consists of a full registration and hotel room accommodations. Procedure - Grants for the SIGUCCS Fall Conference A. Qualifications – To be considered for a grant, an applicant must be either a current student with junior, senior, or graduate status at an institution of higher education, or a current full-time staff member in an institution of higher education in his or her first three years of professional experience. In both cases, preference will be given to those who have at least six months of experience in supporting information technology users, whether gained as a student employee or as a professional. We particularly encourage submissions from students and employees at institutions that have never participated in a SIGUCCS conference. B. Grant Applications – Grant applications may be submitted at any time between June 1 and August 15 for that year’s fall conference. Applications must be submitted electronically. All applications will be acknowledged by return email. C. Grant Notifications – On or before September 1, applicants for the current year will be notified if they did or did not receive a grant. Unsuccessful applications will not be retained; new applications must be submitted each year. Successful applicants will be given appropriate information about how to use the grant. Successful applicants must submit an acceptance of the grant by September 10, or the grant will be cancelled. Acceptance may be sent via email. A maximum of five grants will be awarded for each Fall Conference. No individual may receive a grant for the Fall Conference more than once, whether as a student or a professional employee. D. Grant Components - Each grant will consist of two parts: a full registration for the conference (which includes a number of meals), and up to four nights of lodging during the conference at the conference hotel. All additional costs must be assumed by the award recipient, hopefully with support from his or her institution. |
