There are several
policies established by the Board that address complimentary
registrations. The Board Members Financial Support Policy discusses
complimentary registrations for Board members and the SIGUCCS Awards
Policy discusses complimentary registrations for award winners. As with
other volunteers in the organization, the members of the conference
planning committee are encouraged to use institutional support to attend
the conference. The conference planning committee may determine that
there are some complimentary registrations that they deem appropriate
(e.g., students who are working at the conference, or someone from a
company that has provided extraordinary support of the conference). Local committees should anticipate at least ten (10) complimentary
registrations when building the conference budget.
Retirees may pay the guest rate entitling them to whatever is included
in that conference's guest registration.
The guiding principle is that retirees are attending the conference to
remain connected to old friends (and not for continued development of
their technical skills) and therefore should pay for the actual costs
associated with that involvement.
1. The Penny Crane winner and new Hall of Fame members get
complimentary registration at the conference where they are recognized
(and only at that conference).
2. SIGUCCS will pay other travel expenses for the Penny Crane winner (if he/she
is not receiving institutional support), but not for new Hall of Fame members.
3. SIGUCCS will pay travel expenses and provide complimentary registration for
the Awards Committee chair (but not other members of the committee) to
attend the conference where awards are presented, assuming that
the chair has no institutional support (for example, chair may be retired).
