Are You Your Best Self? Investing in Yourself and Your Talents!
Karen McRitchie, Grinnell College

Do you create the opportunity to do your best every day? Do you know what your personal strengths are? Can you identify your leadership style? Are you familiar with your learning challenges? All of these things contribute to who we are, yet many people don't take the time to get to know themselves and just keep floundering at work or when communicating with others. We tend to devote more time to fixing ourselves than to developing our talents. (Have you checked out the "self-help" section at a bookstore recently?) Sometimes just being able to identify a personality trait can make a difference in how you react or perform a task. For instance, rather than chastise yourself about procrastination, realize that it may be a personality strength and that you use up all of the time available thinking and planning before a deadline, instead of just jumping in prematurely. Knowing things about yourself and others and investing in other's strengths, can help in management, leadership and personal relationships. Knowledge is power, and once identified, you can use your strengths to help get you through your own journey as well as getting the right people on your team.

Let's explore your talents and learn to create opportunities for better communication, better management, and more strategic learning. You will be required to complete surveys prior to the workshop so that you have a good understanding of your strengths and styles when we work together. Each workshop participant will receive the Strengthsfinder 2.0 book as part of their workshop materials. Come and be creative and have fun as we learn more about putting our strengths to use.
