Executive Seminar: Development, Implementation, and Evaluation of a Higher Education Strategic Plan for Mobilization

Mobilization is affecting everyone in higher education, students, faculty and the workforce. IT leaders need to understand what mobilization is, the impact of mobilization on our organizations (institutional and IT), how to develop a strategic plan regarding mobilization and how to leverage mobilization to enhance teaching and learning. Dr. Robbie Melton, a dynamic and outspoken educator, administrator and leader, will lead this discussion and focus on:

  1. The Impact of Mobilization in Higher Education (IT-networks, security, privacy, academics, student service/recruitment/engagement/retention/outcomes)
  2. Mobilization Strategic Planning (role of IT in the collaboration of policies, guidelines, purchasing products, business model, alignment to academic goals and programs)
  3. IT Mobilization Deployment and Management Issues, Challenges, and Recommendations.
  4. Future Innovations in Mobilization impacting IT Leaders (Emerging Technologies of wearable technology, gamification, augmented reality, headgear, etc.)

By the end of this session, participants will understand the issues surrounding mobilization and be energized to start leading your institution in a developing a strategic plan to positively leverage mobilization to enhance teaching and learning on your campus.

BIOGRAPHY: Dr. Melton serves as the chief system level administrator to oversee the Tennessee Board of Regents system's mission and initiatives for the Strategic Mobilization Planning and Business Models, Mobilization Quality Assurances, Faculty and Student Use of Mobile Devices related to teaching, learning, training, and workforce development, and the coordination of research, product testing, pilots and security safety networks. She has published and presented around the nation the impact and value of mobilization for education and the workforce and has acquired a new distinction as an "Appologist", due to her study of the pedagogy and best teaching practices with mobilization, quality standards for the utilization of mobile apps, and for her creation of the Mobile App Education and Workforce Resource Center (50,000+ Apps that have been aligned with over ninety-five subject areas from PreK to Ph.D., including workforce careers, professional development and life-long-learning; according to one's mobile device of choice). Dr. Melton formally served for ten years as the chief administrator responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of Tennessee Board of Regents System Wide Regents Online Campus Collaborative (ROCC): Regents Online Degree Programs (RODP) and Regents Online Continuing Education (ROCE). Throughout her forty years in the field of education, Dr. Melton has received numerous teaching and technology awards and acclaims including the 2012 WCET WOW Education Technology, Tennessee Board of Regents 2011 Catalyst Leadership Award, 2010 IMS Global Learning Leadership, the 2010 MERLOT Educational Leadership Higher Education System Level, and most recently (2013) an Apple Distinguished Educator.
